A former boxer, Tadao Ando is one of the world 's most highly respected living architects influencing an entire generation. He is the only architect to have won the four most prestigious prizes in architecture including the Pritzker despite the fact that he has never had any formal eduction in the field.
Tadao Ando’s architecture is known for the unique combination of natural light, concrete, water and the natural forms of the landscape. Ando’s work includes prize-winning cultural and religious spaces, such as the Church of the Light, museums, private homes and collaborations with the art, fashion and music worlds, designing for Karl Lagerfeld, the Benetton family, Giorgio Armani, Francois Pinault, Bono and Tom Ford.
